Meg’s profound love for dogs, particularly those with exceptional needs, ignited her journey into dog training and behaviour consultation. She deeply understands the unique journey many guardians embark on – the profound experience of welcoming the dog they need, rather than the one they initially expected, transforming the relationship into an incredibly fulfilling shared adventure. This firsthand insight into life with special needs dogs underscores Meg's compassionate approach: meeting each dog where they are, celebrating their progress, and fostering a rich, reciprocal learning experience.
With 20 years of animal welfare experience, Meg's commitment to the highest standards of care is evident in her extensive qualifications. She is Certified in Training and Counselling (CTC) from the rigorous two-year Academy for Dog Trainers, a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer (CSAT) under world-renowned expert Malena DeMartini, and an Associate Certified Dog Behaviour Consultant (ACDBC) with the IAABC. Further reflecting her compassionate philosophy, Meg is also a Fear Free Certified Animal Trainer and a Pet Loss Grief Support Specialist.
Meg's career began volunteering with the Toronto Humane Society, later establishing the beloved 'Walk With Meg' dog walking business and co-founding 'Cat Care Collective,' an enrichment-focused cat sitting service. Her dedication encompasses fostering and providing post-adoption support for local rescues and Humane Societies as well as volunteering as a Cat Behaviour Counsellor for Toronto Cat Rescue. A self-professed 'dog nerd' and lifelong learner, Meg continuously expands her knowledge, believing that understanding and supporting humans is integral to successful dog training. She shares her life with her resilient Cattledog, Colt, who navigates complex health and behavioural needs, and honours the memory of Wile E Coyote, whose separation anxiety directly inspired Meg’s impactful career. Meg also volunteers as an adaptive yoga and mindfulness facilitator and works in mental health and crisis intervention, bringing invaluable transferable skills to her holistic, team-oriented approach.
